About Us
We are a part of the Wabash Conference consisting of 64 Free Methodist churches in all of Indiana and the southeastern section of Illinois. For more information about the Wabash Conference visit www.wabashconference.org. We strive to live our faith in a way that makes others see the beauty and holiness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We seek to allow Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, to abide and reign in our hearts, having its literal effects on our attitudes, actions, and responses. We are a close knit community of believers who actively reach out to embrace and befriend all we come in contact with.
Mission Statement:
Loving and Equipping so that we may stand blameless before God.

History
The Free Methodist Church in Terre Haute had its beginnings in 1896 as Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Kellum opened their home for a weekly prayer meeting. Little by little a few more folks joined with this group and in 1900, a house was purchased at 1412 Walnut which was converted into a church and served the congregation nearly 40 years.
In 1939 the members purchased the Poplar Street Baptist Church at 15th and Poplar. During the years much had been done to make improvements to the building. Property was bought in 1967 where it is presently located at 3201 McKeen Street. Construction on a new building was begun in 1968 with the groundbreaking early in March. The congregation moved into the present building in November of that same year.
Sugar Grove has gone through many improvements and advancements with additions and numerous remodeling projects through these many years. Continuing under our Lord’s direction we intend to keep on serving in our community as a people of God.
